Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2020
Cue “Its the most wonderful time of the year”… Ok, maybe that is a little dramatic, however, this is one of the most anticipated sales of the year, because y’all - IT’S THAT GOOD! Although I have shopped this sale for years, this is the first year that I’m doing a full in depth post here on my blog to help you navigate the sale, whether you’re a long time Nordstrom shopper, or this may be your first experience! To help you better understand, I’m going to add some of the information directly from the Nordstrom website.
What is the Anniversary Sale?
The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale offers new arrivals on sale from top brands like Madewell, Vince, Topshop and more. As always, Nordstrom cardmembers get to shop the sale before everyone else during Early Access.
When is the Anniversary Sale?
All cardmembers can shop Early Access starting August 13—shop even earlier depending on your Nordy Club status.
Anniversary Sale is open to everyone August 19–30. Prices go up August 31.
You can shop the sale in open stores during normal business hours. Online shopping begins at 9:30am ET/6:30am PT.
NEW THIS YEAR!
We're giving everyone the ability to preview all sale items even earlier—starting July 24. This way, you have plenty of time to save your favorites to your Wish List so you can check out faster when it's time to shop. This preview experience will replace our print catalog this year.
Cardmembers with Icon, Ambassador or Influencer status will get even more time to shop Early Access. The higher your status, the earlier you shop. This is on top of the six days of Early Access all cardmembers get.
Anniversary Sale is coming to Canada August 19–September 3, and this year you can shop online at Nordstrom.ca! To learn more, go to Nordstrom.ca/Anniversary.

Icons- August 4-18
Ambassadors- August 7-18
Influencers- August 10-18
Insiders- August 13-18
Then on August 19-30 the sale is open to EVERYONE! If you are unsure of your Nordy Club status you can click here to find out. Also, if you’re not currently a Nordstrom card holder but want to gain early access to the sale, you can apply here.
The sale is a great time to stock up on any basics you might need for the fall/winter months as Nordstrom always has a lot of layering pieces to choose from. Its also an opportunity to add staple pieces to your wardrobe at discounted prices - think a good pair of denim, a trusty blazer, a pair of boots/booties or even a nice cardigan/coat that can be worn for seasons to come. They also have great deals on beauty and home items. I usually stock up on some of my holy grail perfumes or hair products during this sale. This year, I saw that two of my current favorite perfumes are included (Chanel and YSL) so I will definitely be repurchasing those. I also like to use this sale to get ahead of any Christmas shopping that I can for my family or friends. The sale is store wide, so it even includes Men and Children’s items as well.
I’m going to categorize this post into items that I recommend (some that I already own) and items that are on my “wish list” which I plan to purchase. Just a reminder, I am in no way saying that you NEED to shop this sale. However, I know that many of my followers here on the blog will be shopping and may not have the time to go through the site ahead of time to see what are the best deals - so that’s where I come in to help y’all out!
TIPS ON MAKING THE MOST OF THE SALE
Have your Nordstrom Card details already saved in your account settings as your default payment.
Save any Nordstrom Notes to use them during the Sale.
If you’re buying considerably more than usual and don’t think you’ll have a cart price that high again, opt to use a Personal Double Points Day!
If something you love isn’t available online but available for pick-up at a nearby store, remember the Curbside Pick-up option!
Shop quick! Things sell out quickly, which is why it’s important to shop early if you can.
Find the gaps in your wardrobe now so that you can create an easy to follow shopping list to guide you. This sale can be overwhelming so its important to stay focused and buy what you NEED first.
First off are one of my favorite categories of the sale: SHOES! You can refer back to the post I made last fall here to see an in depth review of some of my most worn boot/booties - a few of which I’ve purchased from this sale in previous years.
Next are my Beauty picks. Some of these items are my holy grails, such as the Slip pillowcases (If you haven’t tried sleeping with one of these, make it your one splurge item and I promise you wont regret it) or my favorite dry texturizing spray from Oribe. I was also super excited to see that a few of the perfumes I own and LOVE are part of the sale this year! Also, if you’re looking for a perfect everyday lip combo the Charlotte Tilbury set is a GREAT deal! It comes with 3 full size products - lip liner, lipstick and a gloss, all in her iconic shade: Pillowtalk. Every time I wear this lip combo I get so many compliments! The one item I’m hoping to get my hands on this year is the RIKI vanity mirror. Its great for travel because it lights up and has phone clip attachments for my girls who like to do makeup tutorials or even just take selfies of your look!
I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised with the clothing options for this year’s sale. Last year, there was an issue with hot ticket items selling out fast, but this year I see that they have added multiple brands that offer similar items. If you’re in the market to buy any staple pieces for your wardrobe, the selection this year will not disappoint. I tried to link items that I think won’t sell out too fast, with the exception of the Spanx faux leather leggings and the Barefoot Dreams Cozychic Lite Long Cardigan. I was lucky enough to get my hands on a pair of the Spanx leggings last year before they sold out and let me tell you - I wore them so much throughout the fall/winter months! If you have been wanting a good pair of faux leather leggings, act fast y’all, because once the sale is over they go back up to $98! The Barefoot dreams cardigan will be on my wish list this year so we will see if I am able to get one of those! If you’ve never felt anything from the Barefoot Dreams line (they also make throw blankets) do yourself a favor and check them out, it’s quite possibly the softest material EVER!
Next up - Bags & Accessories. My favorite part of this category has to be the hat selection! If you know me well, then you know I have a serious love for hats - almost as intense as my love for shoes, which I no doubt have my late Aunt Sis and Grandma Betty to thank! Of the items listed above, I own the Brixton Joanna straw hat, the Nordstrom Satin Trim Wool Felt Hat (I have the black but the tea rose color is on my wish list), the ear crawlers and the slip scrunchies (which I swear by if you have thin hair - these are the only scrunchies that don’t leave a crease in my hair). I’ll post below a few photos of how I’ve styled my favorite straw hat from Brixton. The one they added to the sale this year is slightly different as my hat has black bow around it and this years is neutral to match the hat. If you happen to be in the market for a designer bag this is a wonderful time to snag one. For example, the Tory Burch Crossbody bag I listed first usually retails for $498, but during the sale its marked down to $299 - that is almost 35% off y’all!
Last, but certainly not least is the Home section. Personally, I think this is a great section for some early Christmas shopping, or even some good wedding gifts for anyone who may be getting married over the fall/winter months. I own and love both throw blankets I listed. The Barefoot Dreams blanket is a favorite of many, and will sell out fast, so if you want to snag one I suggest not to wait! If it does happen to sell out before you get a chance to shop I also highly recommend the Nordstrom Bliss Plush Throw. I love that one as well and own it in the “beige oatmeal” and “olive arrowwood” colors. I also own the Serene House diffuser - I keep it on my nightstand and love to diffuse a lavender/lemon mix at night to help me fall asleep - it’s AMAZING!
