Charmed by Capri

Although we were staying in Positano, we couldn’t go without visiting the island of Capri and Anacapri.

We took the first ferry that left Positano and arrived in Marina Grande - the main port of Capri, at around 10AM local time.

The boat tour company that we used was Gianni’s Boat, which was convenient given our budget and duration of the boat rental. Our tour guide and his son were very informative and friendly, and I would highly recommend booking a tour with this company.

A wide-brim straw hat and sunglasses are always a good choice when out at sea.

I chose to pair these fun sunglasses for our day trip on the boat because they are complimentary to the Mediterranean Sea.

It was a little overcast at first, but then the clouds cleared up and we were soon basking in the Mediterranean summer sun.

There were many other people on private tours waiting to gain entry into the Blue Grotto.

We had to get transferred from our private boat and into a row boat which then took us through the narrow opening that leads into the Blue Grotto. Our wait time before we got in was approximately an hour.

You need to let your boat captain know as soon as you board the boat if you plan on going to the Blue Grotto as this is something to factor in given the long wait times expected outside the entry to the Blue Grotto.

Unlike the Blue Grotto, the Green Grotto is larger, free to everyone, and lacks the large crowds waiting to gain access.

Our boat took us through the three large outcrops of rock that rise up from under the sea. They are visible from a distance but are best seen when on a boat with a magnificent backdrop of the blue Mediterranean Sea surrounding them.

The view of Capri when arriving back is somewhat reminiscent to that of Positano but only with fewer buildings occupying the hillside.

The best food we had on the entire trip was at the Molo 20 Cafe’ restaurant which is located close to Marina Grande.

Their smoked ricotta ravioli was very flavorful and by far our favorite food out of all the places we ate.

We also had a caprese salad as our appetizer. One could tell that all of the ingredients were very fresh. Although we had many caprese salads during our trip, this was hands down the best of all of them.
